Class 2 have been looking at the work of the author Quentin Blake. Quentin Blake has written many childrens books and illustrated them too. He has also illustrated books for other famous authors such as Roald Dahl.

After reading many of Quentin Blakes books we looked at one in detail Mrs Armitage on Wheels. This book is about a lady called Mrs Armitage who is not satisfied with her ordinary bike so adds things to it to improve it.

When we read the story we decided to write our own books about Mrs Armitage. First we planned the story using the structure of the Story Mountain to help us.
|
|
Then we used the plan to help us write our stories. They had to be about Mrs Armitage on another vehicle. We wrote about cars, roller-skates, skateboards, planes, trains and scooters. Some of us introduced Mr Armitage into our stories.

In our class assembly this term we told the story of Mrs Armitage on Wheels. We made all the objects that Mrs Armitage added to her bike and this became a display in our classroom. We even made Mrs Armitage! Peggy, a very kind lady, also made us a Mrs Armitage!
